How to not be basic in the kitchen this Thanksgiving season
The season of giving thanks is upon us and the turkeys have already started to get beheaded. As you’re preparing to make dinner and serve some food, keep in mind that some of these dishes just plain suck. No one wants green bean casserole, and no one wants your nasty sweet potatoes with marshmallows. As a non-native practitioner of the holiday, I’m from Venezuela, I can see a lot of room for improvement in the standard thanksgiving menu.
What is so great about turkey?
When has anyone ever eaten a turkey that was so good that they just almost cried? Probably no one, because turkey is a dry bird that requires lots of dressings to become somewhat edible. The year is 2024, we have other options that are way more delicious and affordable so let’s branch out. Remember, tradition is making dead people happy so who needs it? Do we live in an economy that can afford an entire bird like we’re about to hibernate? Get creative people we have recipe books everywhere and google will get you recipes in seconds. Want it to be even easier? I have prepared a foolproof menu for your Thanksgiving that will have people talking; nice things this time.
Do not torture your family with the same old boring meal you made last year, here is a full Thanksgiving menu that you can make instead of a dry turkey with canned fruit sauce:

Smashed Grilled Sweet Potatoes with Chimichurri

Spinach and Cheese Empanadas

Ratatouille

Roast Chicken

French Onion Mac and Cheese

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie
Now drop those basic ideas and get to cooking some original and super delicious Thanksgiving Feast that will really have you and your guests feeling thankful and happy!!
