Splatoon, a series that made its debut on Nintendo’s Wii U. One of the games that caused an increase for the console’s sales. Due to the success, it led to two titles for the console after the Wii U, the Nintendo Switch. That being Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3.
In the world of Splatoon, the age of mankind has been long since over. Not that the current main species, like the Inklings and Octolings would know unlike the audience playing the games. Despite that, the remains of humanity live on, through the current species, their fashion sense, weapons for use on Turf Wars, and things like culture!
For this post, we’re going to be talking about the food in Splatoon! …That we know of.
So let’s take a short but an interesting dive nonetheless.

Crusty Sean
[Crusty Sean in Splatoon 1;
Left is Artwork, Right is In-Game Model]
Crusty Sean, a Japanese tiger prawn was originally a shoe shop owner in Splatoon 1, sold food in Splatoon 2.
(And no, he’s not cooked, his jacket just looks that way!)
Crust Bucket
Here we see what Crusty Sean sold to players; food to aid in gaining more experience points or money in the multiplayer modes of Turf War and Ranked Battles.
[A photo of the Crust Bucket’s Food Menu.]
To give a brief summary, Turf Wars is where players are in a team of four and have to cover the available map in the color of their ink within a time limit. The team who covered the most turf wins. For Ranked Battles, they get a bit more complex, as there’s more types to play. There’s Rainmaker, Tower Control, Splat Zones and Clam Blitz. The first two is get the item to the enemy base or as closest to win, next is to take control of specific turf the longest to win and the last one is an odd mix of Basketball with American Football balls to throw into the enemy’s basket, the team with the most points wins.
As you can see, the experience boosting items resembles hot dogs but if the buns were shrimp. In the case of the money boosting items, it resembles ice cream with cookies, except replace the cookies with shrimp. (Is it really shrimp?)
Crusty Sean didn’t only sell foods, he also sold drinks as well!

These drinks up the gear experience points gained from online matches. Each drink shows which gear it’ll aid, along with it’s own unique flavor as shown! Each one from left to right is: Main-Saver Lemon [Ink Saver (Main)], Sub-Saver Berry [Ink Saver (Sub)], Ink-Charge Melon [Ink Recovery up], Run-Speed Tomato [Run Speed Up], Swim-Speed Apple [Swim-Speed Up], Special-Charge Shake [Special Charge Up], Special-Saver Latte [Special Saver], Special-Up Smoothie [Special Power Up], Short-Respawn Mocha [Quick Respawn], Quick-Jump Orange [Quick Super Jump], Sub-Up Juice [Sub Power Up], Ink-Shoe Grape [Ink Resistance Up], Blast-Armor Peacocoa [Bomb Defense Up DX] and Main-Up Guava [Main Power Up].
There was also Blast-Armor Peach [Bomb Defense Up] and Mark-Shaker Cocoa [Cold-Blooded] before the last two flavors replaced them in a later patch in the game.

Crab-N-Go
In Splatoon 3, Crusty Sean quits his job and goes exploring, so his role in the game is covered by Staff run concession stands.
(Note, we don’t know if they’re all the same person or not. It’s one
of Splatoon 3’s enigmas….)
For food, it works similarly to the food that was sold at the Crust Bucket but they have their own names, visuals and a couple of new functions. Such as:
Crab Trap Sandwich — “Increases battle cash by 50%!”
Commercial Crab Trap Sandwich — “Doubles battle cash!”
The Pescatariat — “Increases battle XP by 50%!”
The Pescatariat Royale — “Doubles battle XP!”
Mega Mountain a la Marigold — “Doubles battle cash
for all teammates!”Marigold’en Garden Greens — “Doubles battle XP for all teammates!”
Two of them are sandwiches, the middle two appear to be food types containing primarily veggies and the last two look like giganitc meals fit for a team which makes sense considering their function as shown above.
As for the drinks, each do up gear experience as well like last time but in Splatoon 3, they also increase the chance of the gear drink’s chosen ability onto the player’s gear. Splatoon 3’s drinks also have unique names as well:
Main Mega Pucker-Up [Ink Saver (Main)], Sub Berry Blaster Blitz Ink Saver (Sub)], Ink-Well Chiller [Ink Recovery Up], Speedy Gazpacho [Run Speed Up], Cherry Apple Fizz [Swim Speed Up], Ma’s Special Blend [Special Charge Up], Salty Melon Special [Special Saver], Smoothie Especial [Special Power Up], Matcha Reviver [Quick Respawn], Citrus Hip-Hopper [Quick Super Jump], Super Sub Juicer [Sub Power Up], Stompin’ Grape [Ink Resistance Up], Sub Lime [Sub Resistance Up], and Actionberry Twist [Intensify Action].
