Off the Hook
As you can see, the idols sport zippers on their person, showing a commonality of sorts. Beyond that, they have visible differences. Pearl being the short one with light skin, white hair has a cream and pink color motif and Marina being the taller one with tan skin, dark hair with a plum brown and teal color motif. That and one is an Inkling, the other is an Octoling. Interestingly, people in Splatoon thought Marina was a exotic Inkling while fans immediately knew and wanted to learn more due to the events in the prior game.
Pearl
Pearl, despite her size, carries a lot of attitude. She’s openly loud and proud, sassy, and often says what’s on her mind.
Pearl also wears a crown and comes from a rich background. In addition, her Japanese name, aids onto her “Princess” theme as well. Despite being loaded, Pearl still has a kind heart, being the spoiled sweet kind of gal, once you get to know her better.
But man, even so, Pearl slays in her art with her vocals. Being strong enough to blow out speakers and to destroy large buildings using a Killer Wail (basically a big megaphone).
Let’s not forget her fresh style in the Octo Expansion DLC!

Marina
Marina knows how to be fashionable in any attire she puts on. Also, her nails being color coated resembles nail polish, which is so fabulous!
Despite being meek, Marina shows some midriff in her usual Splatoon 2 attire. Along with a DJ motif, having the headphones and a turntable, which Marina knows how to use beyond a neat effect of showcasing the available stages, as showcased in their live performances. In fact, Marina knows how to wield a keytar!
Also, Marina is a tech person, an inventor, knowing how to make machines, which translates into knowing how to be a DJ and using a keytar respectively, which is beauty in it’s own right beyond our eyes and into our ears.
Marina is usually soft spoken due to her heritage but as time goes on, she gets more confident in herself and expresses her gratitude and love for her partner, Pearl.
They both can slay fashion together, I mean, look at Marina in her Octo Expansion gear!
