We are resuming this fashionable week by talking about the last of the Splatoon idol groups! (For now, there’s a high chance we’ll get another Splatoon game with their own idol debut, haha~)
They made their debut in Splatoon 3. They’re the one, the only…
Deep Cut
Deep Cut is an idol trio instead of a duo unlike the prior games. And unlike the others, they lean more on being anti-heroes as they mostly are a bit more rough around the edges in terms of personality. Despite that, they’re still well meaning even if they’re also a bandit group. Just don’t cross them, lest you want trouble.
In terms of fashion, each other has their own thing going so let’s talk more about that!
Shiver
Shiver, one of the members of Deep Cut is in a shark clan, which involves taming and bonding with sharks. She’s also an Octoling but her clan had no involvement in the Great Turf War. Shiver has her hair usually covering an eye, has slightly styled ripped pants, wears black tabi ankle boots, a white sarashi chest wrap. She also wears a shawl, white cloth wrap that resembles a hachimaki, wears pointy earrings (likely shark teeth) and Shiver appears to wear red lipstick as well. Shiver, much like her name suggests, also wears blue as her main color and can be pretty cold and icy. Yet she’s very expressive as well, as the bits of red on her design showcase. Shiver also showcases maturity as well, but does have her moments as stated earlier.
Frye
Frye is the Inkling in the Deep Cut idol group. She is in a clan that charms eels. Frye also wears a yellow turtleneck, a transparent short shawl, puffy pants and trimmed socks. Her main color motif is yellow, along with bits of purple on her fingers, toes and pants. Frye as her name implies, she’s feisty and reckless but is also passionate about many things. Her singing and overall style seems to take inspiration from Indian culture as well. It aids in the “chaos” theme of the game, where it more so mixes culture as opposed to full on anarchy.
Big Man
Big Man is the Manta Ray member of the Deep Cut trio. In fact, not only is he the only Manta Ray on the team, but he’s the first male idol member we’ve had thus far in the Splatoon games. He wears a red highlighted headpiece. With red being his main color motif, he isn’t a hothead, more so, he’s the heart of the group to Shiver’s iciness and Frye’s recklessness. Despite that, he may get pushed around, like how he did for collabing with another idol group. Both Shiver and Frye were not having it with any excuse Big Man was telling them.
All
Despite that, they all tend to get along, growing beyond acquaintances due to clan reasons. Each one rocking their own style which once again aids the “chaos” theme of blending cultures together beautifully. Showing your style is neat, but taking inspiration from other cultures makes things even better.
That’s it for this fashion week talk, thank you for joining us!
